Biography
Myrlaine was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. For more than 27 years, she has served in various roles, including intern principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, department chair and teacher in high-need, inner-city schools in both Broward County, Florida, and Gwinnett County, Georgia. She has increased student achievement, graduation rates, and Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate program participation rates among at-risk students in large urban school districts.
Her foundation of learning from early stages, as well as her contributions to fair, effective and equitable access to quality education, continues to be the overarching factor to her passion and zeal for public service.
Myrlaine earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Argosy University, M.S. in school counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and her B.A. in English from FAU.
She and her husband of 27 years, Simon, are very proud parents of Kaylah, a graduate of FAU, and Courtney, a soon-to-be-graduate of FAU.
