An Evening with Culinary Entrepreneur James Petrakis of the Ravenous Pig
The East Central Region is proud to host its second Learn and Lead and first "but for Leadership Florida" event featuring James Petrakis of the Ravenous Pig.
James is a culinary leader in Florida and is credited with spearheading Orlando’s food movement. He has started multiple concepts, including The Ravenous Pig (2007), an award-winning American gastropub; Cask & Larder (2012), a southern public house featuring seasonal ingredients located in Orlando's International Airport; and The Polite Pig (2017), a fast-casual concept in Disney Springs combining local Florida flavors with wood-fired, smoked modern barbecue. His newest venture is The Ravenous Pig Brewing Company (2019), a 3,000-square-foot facility that produces namesake brews, available at both The Ravenous Pig and The Polite Pig, and also features a beer garden (2020). The brewery also brews the Cask and Larder beer line for their airport concept.
James has been recognized as a semi-finalist by the James Beard Foundation for "Best Chef-South" for seven consecutive years. He has received notable accolades from publications such as Food & Wine, Saveur, Michelin Bib Gourmand Award 2022, and Southern Living. He is the author of The Ravenous Pig: Seasons of Florida cookbook.
There will be a reception for members and their guests, followed by a discussion moderated by Leadership Florida Board Chair Amy Mangan (Cornerstone Class 37) with James. Guests will enjoy a Florida-themed buffet dinner. The cost is $60 per person; members and guests (one per member) are welcome.
