Biography
Laura serves as an educator at a public high school in Hillsborough County. In 2021-2022, she was selected to represent Hillsborough County Public Schools as their district Teacher of the Year out of 16,000+ teachers. She serves in a number of leadership roles, including Council for Exceptional Children Tampa Bay Chapter president, Diversity Equity and Inclusion board, Instructional Leadership Team site lead, Social Emotional Learning site champion, Family and Community Engagement site lead, and more.
She completed her undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University and her master’s at Florida State University. She is currently a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at the University of South Florida, where her research focuses on the intersection of school leadership and special education.
Laura enjoys being outside, participating in triathlons, and going on "race-cations" to experience different parts of the world. Originally, she is from Dallas, Texas, but has lived in Florida for 12 years. She is married to her husband, Jesse, and has two teenage step-kids and two dogs.
