Biography
Mr. Barrera was born in Havana, Cuba. He emigrated from Cuba to the United States when he was six years old. Mr. Barrera attended Shenandoah Middle School, Miami Senior High School, Miami-Dade Community College, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Design from the College of Architecture at the University of Florida and Master of Architecture Degree from Florida International University. He is currently Senior Vice President and Director of Architecture for Bermello Ajamil & Partners a global interdisciplinary A/E firm providing architecture, engineering, planning, landscape architecture, interior design. Mr. Barrera served on the Miami Dade County School Board from November 2002 to November 2010, Mr. Barrera served three terms as Chairman from 2005 to 2008. Mr. Barrera is a member of The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana since 1994. He served on the Board of Directors from 1996-2000 and President from 2001-2003. Mr. Barrera is on the Board of Trustees for Cristo Rey Miami High School.
